Canon Digital IXUS i might be tiny but it packs plenty of processing muscle. Purpose-built DIGIC (Digital Image Core) circuitry allows for uncompromisingly accurate and precise processing of complex white balance and colour rendition algorithms. This results in superb natural colour reproduction, even for photographers with neither the time nor the inclination to fiddle with lots of settings.

HomeRemote Z-Wave / Wi-Fi home controller

It took them a year and a half, but Hawking Technologies has finally started shipping the HomeRemote, that net-enabled Z-Wave controller that can be acessed via any web browser -- even a cellphone browser. Looking a little sleeker than before, the $229 box serves as the master controller for all those Z-Wave devices you have in your house, and runs a slick web interface so you can turn your lights on and open the garage door from anywhere in the world. Add in the $179 HomeRemote camera and the system will also stream video -- we're not sure how good it'll look over "any cellphone web browser" but Hawking says it'll work just fine. Make sure to check the read link for Hawking's hilarious promo video in which the video feature is used to futilely monitor a dog eating a shoe. -Engadget

3D Air-Mouse you can wear as a Ring

MagicMouse, a three-dimensional ultrasonic computer mouse designed by a team of five WPI undergraduates, is one of 10 inventions honored with the inaugural PopSci Invention Awards, the cover story in the June 2007 issue of Popular Science.

Developed by seniors Christian Banker (Norwich, Conn.), Michael Cretella Jr. (Monroe, Conn.), Jeff DiMaria (Prospect, Conn.), Jamie Mitchell (Worcester, Mass.), and Jeffrey Tucker (Nottingham, N.H.), the mouse is designed to permit a computer user to control and manipulate items on a computer screen just by pointing at the monitor. The mouse uses an array of receivers to track the motion of a tiny ultrasonic transmitter worn on the index finger like a ring.

The MagicMouse is a true 3D mouse. Users can move the cursor about the screen simply by pointing and moving their index finger. Zooming is achieved by moving the hand nearer to or farther from the screen. Since both actions can be done simultaneously, the mouse makes it possible to work easily in three dimensions to pan and zoom through 3D maps, for example, or manipulate objects in computer-aided design (CAD) drawing packages. The mouse could also make game play more realistic and interactive, much as the novel 3D remote on the new Nintendo Wii game console has done. For more routine applications, like word processing and web surfing, the WPI students note that controlling a computer with hand gestures should make computer use more intuitive and less intimidating. Japanese commuters can now stay tuned on crowded trains, with what's called the world's smallest wearable TV.

"Teleglass T3-F" is attached to glasses like a jeweler's eyepiece, with a remote control arm extending a mini-screen.

Using this gadget, you can enjoy video by yourself with one eye while talking, walking and working with other people without disturbing them.

Teleglass T3-F device can also be attached to portable video players such as iPods, allowing users to select a variety of videos to watch while on the go.

which can be attached to the side of a pair of glasses and is operated with a remote control.

The Teleglass T3-F weighs 27 grams and users can view the TV images equivalent to a 28-inch screen located two metres away while ensuring the users' normal visual field, the Tokyo-based company says.

A set of the wearable display, a controller, a pair of titanium framed glasses, a battery charger and cables will be sold in Japan from Tuesday at 98,000 yen (£410).
