World's oldest car for sale

Steam-powered 1884 car will be auctioned at Pebble Beach in August.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- A steam-powered car, billed as the oldest car in the world that still runs, will be sold in a Pebble Beach, Calif., auction in August.

The car was built in France in 1884, about a year before Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz of Germany built their first experimental gasoline-powered cars. (The two were working independently of one another.) Henry Ford, the man many Americans mistakenly believe invented the automobile, built his first car 12 years after this one.

Brain Device Moves Objects by Thought

Forget the clicker: A new technology in Japan could let you control electronic devices without lifting a finger simply by reading brain activity.

The "brain-machine interface" developed by Hitachi Inc. analyzes slight changes in the brain's blood flow and translates brain motion into electric signals.

A cap connects by optical fibers to a mapping device, which links, in turn, to a toy train set via a control computer and motor during one recent demonstration at Hitachi's Advanced Research Laboratory in Hatoyama, just outside Tokyo.

"Take a deep breath and relax," said Kei Utsugi, a researcher, while demonstrating the device on Wednesday. -

The Irish version - available at www.youtube.ie - will prioritise Irish-related videos and comments to give users what the company says will be a "local experience" of the site.

Until now, the featured pages users first saw when they logged on to the site were heavily skewed to US tastes.

YouTube also unveiled eight other national sites for Brazil, Britain, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland and Spain.

Forbes List The World's 10 Largest Shopping Malls

Heading out to the mall--isn't that yesterday's way to shop?

Not in Asia, where a building boom has enormous shopping malls popping up in China, Malaysia and the Philippines, with India expected to jump into the fold soon.
