Picasa for Mac at Macworld!

A web-savvy photo sharing and management system in just one tiny package is now available for Mac at Macworld.

Here’s the word from Google Blog:

“Today, we're releasing Picasa for Mac. While we've previously offered both a standalone Picasa Web Albums uploader and an iPhoto plugin for Mac users, Picasa for Mac finally brings all of the advanced sharing and sync features of Picasa to the millions of Mac OS X users who use Picasa Web Albums. Not to mention the "it-slices-and-dices" feature list that covers everything from color balance to collages.

Picasa for Mac looks and works much like Picasa on other platforms, and offers trademark Picasa features — such as non-destructive editing, and the ability to keep track of photos anywhere on your hard drive, then automatically account for new images as you add them.

Right now, Picasa for Mac is still in Google Labs, but we very much wanted to get an early version out to folks attending Macworld (you can learn more about this beta release at the Google Photos blog). To run Picasa, you'll need an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X 10.4 and above. We hope you'll give it a spin, and give us your feedback in person — members of the Picasa engineering team will be conducting demos at Google's Macworld booth all week."

Slim Aluminum MacBooks Coming Soon from Apple | 9 to 5 Mac

We have received some information about some upcoming Apple laptops - we think they are MacBooks but aren't 100 percent sure they aren't the fabled Pro slim line.
What we know:

• Black aluminum and silver aluminum (like MacBook Pros) have been seen
• They are considerably slimmer than current MacBook and even a bit more than MacBook Pros
• The screen reaches much closer to the edges than current MacBooks but is the same size as current MacBooks - indicating a somewhat smaller footprint
• The keyboards resemble Apple's new Bluetooth Keyboard
• There is something strange about the touchpad (more on this to come)
• They are set to be priced extremely aggressively
• While they are dense, overall they are lighter than the current MacBooks

Nike + iPod Sport Kit

Your shoes talk, your ipod nano listens and get performance feedback as you run

Fitness buffs, now you don’t need to have or look for your buddy to join with you on your fitness routine like jogging when they are not available since Nike Plus iPod Sports Kit is here. This gadget can be your MP3 player and at the same time your accelerometer. Accelerometer is an instrument that measures acceleration, which can be used to determine such information as speed and distance. So, tracking your work out is easy, with Apple and Nike announced the first fruit of their new partnership, the Nike + iPod Sport Kit.

This very small accessory package consists of a transmitter (the actual accelerometer) designed to fit specially-designed Nike running shoes, a small receiver that attaches to the dock-connector port on any iPod nano (other iPod models aren’t supported), and iPod software that provides feedback on the time, distance, and pace of your running or walking workout. The Nike + iPod Sport Kit offers many of the features of pricey workout hardware at the remarkably low price of only $29. (Plus the cost of an iPod nano, of course.) I put this nifty, thrifty workout companion through its (and my) paces.
